YELLOW FEVER
What is yellow fever? Yellow
fever is a mosquito-borne viral disease. The disease occurs in
tropical and subtropical areas.
Who gets yellow fever? This
disease can affect both sexes, all ages and races. Jungle yellow
fever, of tropical Central and South America, occurs predominantly
among adult males 20 to 40 years old who are exposed in the tropical
forests.
How is yellow fever spread? A
certain type of mosquito, Aedes aegypti, is most often responsible
for transmitting the virus. These mosquitoes are no longer found
naturally in New York State.
What are the symptoms of yellow fever? Initial
symptoms may be dengue-like and include fever, headache, vomiting
and backache. As the disease progresses, the pulse slows and
weakens, and bleeding of the gums and bloody urine occur. Jaundice
may also occur.
How soon do symptoms appear? Symptoms
occur within three to six days after exposure.
Does past infection with yellow fever make a person immune? Yes.
People who have had yellow fever develop lifelong immunity.
What is the treatment for yellow fever? There
is no specific treatment for yellow fever. People traveling to areas
where yellow fever may exist should be immunized.
How can yellow fever be prevented? Since
transmission of yellow fever no longer occurs within the United
States, it is important for travelers to be immunized prior to
visiting areas where yellow fever exists.

History of the sport
In 1995, the sport of Volleyball was 100
years old! The sport originated in the United States, and is now
just achieving the type of popularity in the U.S. that it has
received on a global basis, where it ranks behind only soccer among
participation sports.
Today there are more than 46 million Americans who play volleyball.
There are 800 million players worldwide who play Volleyball at least
once a week.

In 1895, William G. Morgan, an instructor at the Young Men's
Christian Association (YMCA) in Holyoke, Mass., decided to blend
elements of basketball, baseball, tennis, and handball to create a
game for his classes of businessmen which would demand less physical
contact than basketball. He created the game of Volleyball (at that
time called mintonette). Morgan borrowed the net from tennis, and
raised it 6 feet 6 inches above the floor, just above the average
man's head.
During a demonstration game, someone remarked to Morgan that the
players seemed to be volleying the ball back and forth over the net,
and perhaps "volleyball" would be a more descriptive name
for the sport. On July 7, 1896 at Springfield College the first game
of "volleyball" was played.
In 1900, a special ball was designed for the sport.
1907 Volleyball was presented at the Playground of America
convention as one of the most popular sports
In 1916, in the Philippines, an offensive style of passing the ball
in a high trajectory to be struck by another player (the set and
spike) were introduced. The Filipinos developed the
"bomba" or kill, and called the hitter a
"bomberino".
In 1917, the game was changed from 21 to 15 points.
In 1920, three hits per side and back row attack rules were
instituted.
In 1930, the first two-man beach game was played.

Late 1940s Forearm pass introduced to the game (as a desperation
play) Most balls played with overhand pass
In 1948, the first two-man beach tournament was held.
In 1949, the first World Championships were held in Prague,
Czechoslovakia.
1951 - Volleyball was played by over 50 million people each year in
over 60 countries
1955 - Pan American Games included volleyball
1957 - The International Olympic Committee (IOC) designated
volleyball as an Olympic team sport, to be included in the 1964
Olympic Games.
1960's new techniques added to the game included - the soft spike
(dink), forearm pass (bump), blocking across the net, and defensive
diving and rolling.
In 1964, Volleyball was introduced to the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The Japanese volleyball used in the 1964 Olympics, consisted of a
rubber carcass with leather panelling. A similarly constructed ball
is used in most modern competition.
In 1974, the World Championships in Mexico were telecast in Japan.
In 1984, the US won their first medals at the Olympics in Los
Angeles. The Men won the Gold, and the Women the Silver.
In 1988, the US Men repeated the Gold in the Olympics in Korea.
In 1995, the sport of Volleyball was 100 years old!
In 1996, 2-person beach volleyball was added to the Olympics.

BATHROOM DECORATING
Decorating in the bathroom
should focus on comfort first. In addition to candles and plants to
create a mood, make sure there are plenty of terry towels – easily
accessible.
If romance is the keyword in the
bedroom, then comfort is the keyword in the bathroom. Whether it's
the master, guest, or half bath, each should be decorated with the
same care and attention to comfort.
Candles in all types and sizes are great in a bathroom; use lots of
them. Feel free to use baskets of greenery, other plants and area
rugs. Don't forget plenty of terry towels in accessible places
either folded or rolled.

Clean robes hanging on the back of the bathroom door are just as
welcome in the guest bath as they are in the master. Towel warmers
are a nice touch too
A good trick is to think about your home as a five-star hotel.
Anything that you might find in the hotel’s bathroom will be at
home in your bath.
You probably already place your favorite robe on the back of the
door in the master bath. But how about the guest bath? Nothing will
make a guest feel more at home than nice robes and slippers in the
guest bath.

Towel warmers are wonderful. They add
something special and let the people in your home know you really
care. As with any electrical appliance, the cords tend to be
unattractive. But you can hide these cords with some silk ivy and a
plant. Just place the plant at the outlet and weave the silk ivy
around the cord. You can even place greenery at the base of the
towel warmer itself.
The vanity is enhanced with small groupings – potpourri, hand
towels – that break up the plane of the counter. A stack of towels
by the tub looks good and comes in handy
I love lamps and they even go well in the bath. Put a lamp and a
potpourri grouping on your vanity counter. Use other small groupings
throughout the bath to break up the straight lines.
Colorful hand towels work well by the
basin, creating little splashes of color.

Almost anything that breaks up the
planes of the bath is good. One idea that works well is a simple
stack of towels by the tub along with some nice greenery.
Candles work especially nicely by the
tub. Think romance and comfort. There are as many small touches for
the bath as there are ideas in your head.

What Is Python? Understanding Them
: Pythons are relatively
primitive snakes belonging to the subfamily Pythoninae within the
family Boidae . Boidae , in turn , is one of 11 families in suborder
Serpentes , The Snakes . Within the subfamily of pythons , arboreal
pythons with heat-sensing pits along their lips (green tree pythons)
are grouped seperately from terrestrial pythons that have heavy
bodies and short tails (blood pythons) . Each different type of
snake eventually ends up with two names , one for the genus and one
for the species . When isolated population exits that are still
identifiable as the same type of snake , a third name , the
trinomial , is added .
The term primitive indicates that these snakes were some of the
first snakes to evolve . Primitive snakes display features that link
them to lizards .
These features include a rudimentary pelvic girdle in the form of
cloacal spurs , and lungs of equal sizes . Advanced snakes , like
the rat snakes and whip snakes , have only one functional lung and
no cloacal spurs .
Pythons are divided into about 26 species , depending on which
authority you accept . Pythons range in size from very big (Burmese
and Reticulated pythons with the potential of over 20 feet and over
200 pounds) to small (Children's pythons do not get much bigger than
24 inches '61cm' in length) . No matter what the size , they are all
constrictors . Some burrow-hunting species have developed novel ways
of using thei coils to catch prey within the confines of a burrow
but they are still constrictors nonetheless . Most pythons are
nocturnal hunters and some species have heat sensory pits along the
edges of their lips to aid in finding warm-blooded prey

HELLCAT 1942
- USA
The F6F design began as a
development of the F4F powered by the R-2600 engine, but soon
evolved into a much larger and more capable aircraft, with the
R-2800 engine. The F6F was designed and put into service in a very
short period, assuring the ascendance of the USN over the A6M 'Zero'
from the second half of 1943 onwards. It was credited with 76% of
all aircraft destroyed by USN carrier fighters. In line with Grumman
tradition, the F6F was a rugged aircraft that lacked easthetic
appeal. Typical features were a tail-down attitude in level flight,
because of the engine trust line, and the biggest wings fitted to a
WWII fighter. Some were converted into unmanned flying bombs, used
in Korea. 12275 built.

Driven
Warner Bros
April 27, 2001
SYLVESTER STALLONE , CARL HENRY, CATHY MORENO

A high-tech action drama set in the dangerous, exhilarating world of
open-wheel racing, "Driven" centers on the lives and
careers of four drivers chasing the ultimate adrenaline rush.

Talented but unfocused rookie Jimmy Bly (KIP PARDUE) is slipping in
the rankings, cracking under pressure from his ambitious promoter
brother (ROBERT SEAN LEONARD). And it doesn't help that Bly is
pursuing an affair with Sophia (ESTELLA WARREN), the girlfriend of
his nemesis, top racer Beau Brandenburg (TIL SCHWEIGER).

With so much riding on Bly, seasoned car owner Carl Henry (BURT
REYNOLDS) seeks help from former racing star Joe Tanto (SYLVESTER
STALLONE), whose once-promising career spun out after a tragic
accident that nearly killed him and another driver. But to steer Bly
to the top, Tanto must navigate his scarred emotional past, maneuver
around the hovering presence of a reporter (STACY EDWARDS) covering
the male-dominated racing scene, and contend with Cathy (GINA
GERSHON), his ex-wife, who has since married rival racing sensation
Memo Moreno (CRISTIAN DE LA FUENTE).

Caught between success, failure, regret and the need for speed, the
four competitors are driven to put the pedal to the metal in pursuit
of redemption and glory.
Welcome to the human race.
Shot over eight months at nine races in five countries,
"Driven" features coverage of real races ... including the
fastest car chase and racing sequences ever filmed _ and utilizes
state-of-the-art film technology to simulate the driver's point of
view while traveling at speeds in in excess of 240 miles-per-hour.
For the first time, a feature film puts the audience in the driver's
seat of some of the fastest cars on earth.
